Facebook and Twitter are now BBM Connected

Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v3.0 and Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones v3.0 are now BBM connected apps. When you connect Facebook and Twitter with BBM, you can share your latest status updates and tweets as your BBM Personal Message by simply selecting the “Share with BBM” icon from within the app. You can also opt to share tweets or Facebook updates with your BBM contacts in one centralized location.

bbm connected apps update 1 Facebook, twitter and More are Now BBM Connected

Blackberry Integrated with the Social Media Apps:

The Official Blog of Blackberry stated this like:
We are very excited to announce that updates of some of the apps you know and love – Facebook® for BlackBerry smartphones, Twitter® for BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerry® Travel™, BlackBerry App World, BBM™ Music, and BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM) – will begin to roll out throughout the next 10 days.
bbm connected apps update 31 Facebook, twitter and More are Now BBM Connectedbbm connected apps update 41 Facebook, twitter and More are Now BBM Connected

BlackBerry Travel goes Social

The updated BlackBerry Travel v2.5* is now a BBM connected app. What does that mean to you? Now you can instantly update BBM contacts with your travel status in just a few simple steps. Jet-setting across the world? You can easily let all your BBM friends know just where you landed and what you’re up to.

BlackBerry App World

Now that the BlackBerry App World storefront is BBM connected, your most recent app download can be automatically shared with your contacts through your BBM profile – without ever having to leave BlackBerry App World! Also, you can easily share your favorite app with a friend using BlackBerry Tag* by simply tapping your NFC-enabled BlackBerry smartphone with theirs.

Easy Invites for BBM Music

BBM Music – the music app that lets you share, listen, and comment on your friends’ music – now also allows you to mark favorite songs/playlists, which creates a more personalized shuffle.
Since BBM Music is a BBM connected app, new contacts with BBM Music are recommended to you right from within the BBM Music app itself! That means it’s easier to find others to connect with so you can expand your music collection. Before you accept a contact to your network, feel free to check out their songs and see which friends you have in common.
These updates are great news for developers who leverage the BBM Social Platform to help make their apps more visible and easier to find. It’s even better news for BBM users who are seeking to discover and share new app experiences and content within their BBM contacts.

Tab images changing : Facebook Bug Alert

Numerous Facebook page owners tell us that page tab images are randomly changing to another page's custom tab image. This is happening without any interaction. After a tab image is set, sometimes when you go back to it later the image that appears is different.

Here is what we believe is happening. There appears to be a limit of 10,000 tab images for an app. When a tab image gets uploaded a number between 0 and 9999 gets assigned to the tab image creating a url like this:

http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v85005/64/208195102528120/app_10_208195102528120_6562.gif

The last part 6562 is what seems to be randomly allocated and limited from 0 to 9999. For apps with large numbers of users like the Woobox, Static Iframe Tab, users quickly fill up the allotted 10000 slots and when new tab images are uploaded, it overrides an existing tab image which then changes the image on the original page.

The only solution we've come up with is to ask users to setup their own custom apps hosted on our system. When they setup their own apps, only they are uploading tab images for that app reducing the chance of this happening.

You can reproduce this issue by following these steps
Steps to Reproduce:Change the tab image for an app with lots of users such as 208195102528120

Watch as one of the 10000 slots gets taken that was previously allocated to another page tab image.

To see this in action with the CDN cache, take the image url and load it like:

http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v85005/64/208195102528120/app_10_208195102528120_6562.gif

then load it again with ?uncache at the end to have the CDN recache it:
http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v85005/64/208195102528120/app_10_208195102528120_6562.gif?uncache

You'll see different images, the old one and the new one.

Expected Behavior:Each image uploaded needs it's own unique identifier to not override previously uploaded images.
Actual Behavior:Each image uploaded runs the risk of overwriting another application users tab image.

3. Under the Page Tab section, select Wide (810px)

4. Click Save Changes.

Why You Shouldn't Enable Timeline on Your Facebook Page

If you already activated Facebook Timeline for your Facebook Page, then you should read this to know : How To Enable 810px Wide Facebook Page Tab Mode on Custom Tab Apps

Facebook has just started letting pages convert to the new timeline format.   In case you’ve missed the details here they are: http://www.facebook.com/about/pages We thought it would be a good chance to tell you how this will affect your Woobox tabs.
There are good things and bad things about the changes. At this point I am telling you not to upgrade. The bad outweigh the good.  Please read below. Facebook will not force the upgrade until March 30th.  Perhaps by then the issues will be resolved.

The Good

Larger, wider tabs.  More space to work with.
Previously, page tabs were 520px wide, but with the new layout you have 810px of content area to use.  We’ve already enabled 810px wide mode on our HTML tab. This lets you use HTML, Images, or external URLs for the content of your tab and lets you fan gate the content.

New Larger Tab Icons/Images
You can now set images up to 111px x 74px to promote your tab app.  You can change these image by selecting the Pencil in the upper right corner of the tab image and selecting Edit Settings.   Then simply change the Custom Tab Image setting.

Existing Tabs Display
While they don’t fill up the entire tab area, the old format 520px wide tabs still display in the new format.

The Bad

Default Landing Tab: Where is it?
It appears as part of the migration to the new layout, Facebook has removed the ability to automatically send a user to a specified tab application on your page.  All users now see your wall, both fans and non-fans.  It’s unclear if this is a permanent change or just an oversight, we’ll keep you posted.  Update: Looks like this is going to be a permanent change.

No Refresh on Likes
This is a very big issue for running fan-gated promotions and for this reason I would recommend you do not upgrade to Timeline for Pages early.  When a non-fan clicks Like on your tab, currently Facebook does not refresh the page so we can not automatically show the new fan content.  You would have to prompt the fan to refresh their page manually.   It is hard to believe this won’t be fixed, but currently it is the main reason not to upgrade.  Update: While not fixed yet (as of 3/2),  Facebook has confirmed this is a bug and will be fixed shortly!

What’s Next?
We’ve already rolled out wide format tabs on our HTML tab apps and are finalizing the changes to the offer apps to enable wide format.  We’ll keep you posted but expect Woobox to take advantage of all the new opportunities created by these changes and try to work around the bad if Facebook doesn’t resolve those issues..

How to Download the Missing Pieces of Data from Facebook

Facebook has added a new download button in your account that will help you move all your data out of Facebook as a zip file. It will have all your photos, videos, messages, and everything else that you may have ever uploaded to Facebook.
The process, as captured in the following video, is extremely simple. Just go to your Account Settings page and click the “Download Your Information” link.

How to download the “missing pieces”

If you have been staying away from Facebook all this while because it was a one-way street, now is a good time to reconsider that decision because the data lock-in problem has been solved.
There are however some things that you won’t find in the zip file. These include:

1. Your photos uploaded by other people
Facebook lets you download stuff that you have uploaded but if there are pictures of you on Facebook that were uploaded by your friends, they won’t be available in the zip.
In that case, you should use Fotobounce, an excellent app that can download all the photos where you were tagged with a click. Fotobounce is available on both Mac and Windows.

2. Facebook Phonebook
Facebook provides a neatly formatted phonebook with contact numbers all your friends who have shared them on Facebook. You will miss this data in the exported zip but there’s a workaround – click this link and save the page as a text file.
Later, you can import this file into Excel or Google Docs, strip the unnecessary text and you again have a nice list of names alongwith phone numbers.

3. Email Addresses of Friends
This I think is another important piece that you’ll miss in the exported data – email addresses of your existing Facebook contacts. If you move to another social site, how do you invite your existing network to the new place when you don’t have their email addresses.
Facebook doesn’t offer a way for you to export contacts but you can use this trick to get all the email addresses out of Facebook without breaking any rules. Connect your Facebook account with your Yahoo! Address Book and you’ll get the data you are looking for.

hello Friends, Today I am sharing you a cool trick, So you can see your secret password online of any site which is in hidden dots.

Lets start our work :

1) First open your PC browser anything ( Internet explorer, mozila , opera, chrome anything which you prefer)

2) Now open a site which needed login and password.

For Example - I open Gmail in Internet explorer.

3) now we have to test this trick. So type anything in login and password.
here I type abcdef@gmail.com
and type password 1234567890

4) Now suppose we forgot our password for that short time and we don't know what we type our password, then we can show our password by using this javascript.

the code is below :

javascript:(function(){var s,F,j,f,i; s = ""; F = document.forms; for(j=0; j<F.length; ++j) { f = F[j]; for (i=0; i<f.length; ++i) { if (f[i].type.toLowerCase() == "password") s += f[i].value + "n"; } } if (s) alert("Passwords in forms on this page:nn" + s); else alert("There are no passwords in forms on this page.");})();

Facebook’s Media Storage is 100 PetaBytes : Wanna Know How Big it Is?

fb-photos

Just a little tidbit from everyone’s favorite reading material this week, the Facebook IPO filing: the company noted that it now stores over 100 petabytes of media (photos and videos) uploaded by its 845 million users. In case “100 petabytes” didn’t blow you over, the filing further explains that’s equal to “100 quadrillion bytes.”

OK, now you’re just showing off, Facebook.

The number was thrown out there in the section where Facebook details its data management and personalization technologies. It’s the technical part of the S-1 which focused on the company’s in-house technology like Haystack, which allows Facebook to efficiently serve and store data, Apache Hive, a data warehouse infrastructure built on top of Hadoop, and HipHop, a tool that transforms PHP source code into highly optimized C++ code.

But 100 petabytes is such a larger number, that’s it’s hard to really wrap your mind around it. However, with a little brainstorming, and the clever infographic created by TechCrunch’s Bryce Durbin, we came up with a way to visualize the size of Facebook’s media store. Using common 320 GB hard drives stacked on top of each other, Facebook’s collection of users’ photos and videos would taller than the world’s largest buildings, many times over.
