What is DropBox? - Why you should use it?

Think a second... You make an assignment on your PC or Laptop & a friend asked you to give it to him/her, what you would do? Bring a pen-drive? Copy all assignments into that & give it to your friend? or you would email him/her...

These things also can be done 10 years ago, so is there no revolution in it? To share a file you must have to email or to share a photo you must have to upload it onto Facebook or Twitter?

Now a days this becomes an OLD DUMB idea.. What if you never have to email a file or upload a pic onto internet but still your friends or a specific person can see it? This sounds really cool...... isn't?

So here it comes with a new tool called DropBox. It is just a 15 MB Software, can be installed on Windows, Linux or even a smartphone and thereafter you can forgot the old email sending idea. Open this link www.dropbox.com/ then click on Download DropBox. After installing DropBox you can see a folder in your computer named DropBox. It contains 3 folders named :

• Photos
• Public

Any file you wanna share just drop it into the 'public folder' and on right mouse click you got these options :

 

Just click on 'Copy public link' and give it to the person whom you wanna show/send the file.

What Are SOPA and PIPA And Why All The Fuss?

Knowing that Wikipedia would go dark for 24 hours in protest to SOPA and PIPA, I took the precaution of printing it out last night. Just kidding. Wikipedia is huge. I wanted to say just how big it is, but when I went to Google to look up “size of Wikipedia,” most of the relevant results directed me to articles on Wikipedia which, of course, is dark for the day.

Google didn’t go dark but it did black out its logo and has a link to “Tell Congress: Please don’t censor the web!” with a link to an online petition.

This is all because of two pieces of legislation: the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House and its Senate companion bill, the Protect IP Act (PIPA).  The purpose of these bills is to make it harder for sites — especially those located outside the United States — to sell or distribute pirated copyrighted material such as movies and music as well as physical goods such as counterfeit purses and watches. Even most of SOPA and PIPA’s strongest opponents applaud the intentions of the legislation while deploring what it might actually accomplish.

Although its sponsors have said that they would amend the bill, as currently written, SOPA would enable the U.S. Attorney General to seek a court order to require “a service provider (to) take technically feasible and reasonable measures designed to prevent access by its subscribers located within the United States to the foreign infringing site.” Until this weekend, one of the ways to do that would have been to cut the DNS (domain name server) records that point to the site, but that provision is likely to be removed after the Obama administration weighed in on the issue over the weekend, saying “Any effort to combat online piracy must guard against the risk of online censorship of lawful activity and must not inhibit innovation by our dynamic businesses large and small.” The administration also echoed concerns raised by a number of security experts, including some anti-malware companies that the bill could disrupt the underlying architecture of the Internet.

The White House statement coincided with sponsors agreeing to remove the DNS blocking provisions. Still, the bill could require search engines like Google to delete any links to the sites.

These are not partisan bills. SOPA and PIPA have proponents and opponents on both sides of the aisle.

The bill would require sites to refrain from linking to any sites “dedicated to the theft of U.S. property.” It would also prevent companies from placing on the sites and block payment companies like Visa, Mastercard and Paypal from transmitting funds to the site. The problem with this is that the entire site would be affected, not just that portion that is promoting the distribution of illegal material. It would be a bit like requiring the manager of a flea market to shut down the entire market because some of the merchants were selling counterfeit goods.

The bill would also cut off funding by prohibiting payment services from cooperating with infringing sites.

Opponents say it would create an “internet blacklist.”

How to add Stock Photos to your Google Documents

 

Google Docs is integrated with Google Image Search to help you quickly find and insert web photographs in your documents. The results are filtered to only show images that have been licensed under Creative Commons and labeled for commercial reuse so  you are legally allowed to insert these images in your documents.

Other than Creative Commons, there’s a new image search option available in Google Docs that will help you find professionally shot photographs for your documents. Google has partnered with stock photography services like Photos.com to offer royalty-free stock images inside Google Docs, just like Microsoft PowerPoint.

How to Insert Stock Images in Google Docs

While you are inside the edit view of a document, go to Insert –> Images –> Stock Photos and use the search function. The collection of stock photographs available inside Google Docs isn’t as big as what is offered by Microsoft Office but that should possibly change once Google signs up with more partners.

The next version of YouTube video player

The next version of YouTube video player will have one very useful feature – you can hover your mouse to any point in the video, without actually moving the playhead, and the YouTube player will show you an image thumbnail of the video frame at the position. Thus you can easily get a visual gist of the whole video while the clip is still buffering.

I recorded a screencast video and that should give you a better idea of this new feature.

YouTube Storyboards

YouTube, as you know, generates three thumbnail images to represent a video and these images are captured using the frames at around 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 points in the video. For instance, if a YouTube video clip is 60 seconds long, the image thumbnails would be generated around frames at the 15s, 30s and 45s mark respectively.

For the new video player, YouTube generates one big Storyboard of 100 thumbnails per video and these thumbnail images are arranged in the Storyboard like a 10x10 grid. As you move your mouse to different points in the video player, it quickly grabs the corresponding thumbnail for that position from the storyboard.

This should save time as you can quickly jump to the most interesting portions of a video based on the scenes shown in the thumbnails. Alternatively, you can skip the video completely if the description doesn't match the inner thumbnails.

There's a silly rumor exploding on the Internet this weekend, alleging that Facebook is shutting down on March 15 because CEO Mark Zuckerberg "wants his old life back," and desires to "put an end to all the madness." We have official confirmation from Facebook Director of Corporate Communications Larry Yu that the rumor is false. We asked him via e-mail if Facebook was shutting down on March 15, to which he responded, "The answer is no, so please help us put an end to this silliness." 

He added, "We didn't get the memo about shutting down and there's lots to do, so we'll just keep cranking away like always."

 

Let's think about this for a minute. Would Facebook decide to shut down the company just a few days after announcing a round of funding, consisting of $450 million from Goldman Sachs and $50 million from Russian investment firm Digital Sky Technologies, on a valuation of $50 billion?

The spurious report was started by a site to which we refuse to link, known for its reports of impending attacks of alien spaceships and false reports of a Michelle Obama pregnancy.

The fact that this absurd hoax spread so efficiently makes us wonder: Will people believe anything?

Silly Problems of Facebook in 2012

In late 2011 maximum Facebook users started to use Facebook Timeline. Personally I also liked it very much, bt few said they wanna deactivate it. Actually the matter is there is already a few chaos in Facebook before the Timeline chapter started.

When Facebook starts to modifying it self & adds many new features like --

• Adding an email id to each profile holders, 
• 'Subscribers' & 'Subscribe' options, 
• New photo viewing options etc.

First, the 'message' pages started loading slowly, in a 2G network speed its quite boring to open message pages. It takes longer time than usual.
Second and the most impotently, when you click on a photo it shows as a popup in new Facebook. But If you open many photos rapidly then there is a big chaos. the Title, tags and the uploader name do not changes instantly.

Let me show you : yesterday I saw many pics from a Facebook community page, after that I click on a photo, one of my friend just uploaded. Then I saw this :

This is a photo uploaded by one of my friend, but it still showing the community page's name as uploader, as the previous images belongs to that page.

But on the first click the uploader name, like & comments details everything do not updated correctly. After few seconds if you click on the image again it shows the real details.

How to Change Windows 7 Password without Knowing Current Password

There are various methods to bypass windows 7 password protection. In case you forgot windows passsword,you can reset it using windows 7 Dvd or OfflineNT Password and Registry Editor.However if you have access to any windows account then you can change the password without knowing current password.


How to Change Window 7 Password without Knowing Current Password:

Method 1:

• Go to Control Panel and click on the Administrative Tools.
• Under this section double click on Computer Management.
• Select System Tools from right window pane.

• Under this, just double click on Local Users and Groups and then on Users.
• Now you will see all the login accounts of your computer. Right click on any the account whose password you want to change and then click on Set Password.

• A warning message will popup on your screen just click on Proceed button.

• Now enter your New Password and click on OK button.

That’s it! your windows 7 password is changed without knowing current password. The only limitation of this method is that your current account should have Administrative privileges.

Method 2:

If you love to be work on Command Line then this method is for you.

• Open command prompt by typing with administrative privileges .( Type CMD in start, right click on it and select Run as Administrative

• In the CMD window  type the following command and  hit Enter.

net user Account Name Your New Password

In this command replace Account Name by the account name (Account Name is case sensitive) whose password you want to change and replace Your New Password by the password that you want to set.

• Now if everything goes alright you will see “The command completed successfully” on your screen, now type exit command and hit Enter.

This will reset your current windows password.
