Panasonic 102P Rugged Android Smartphone : First look

Softbank Japan unveils the new rugged smartphone 102P designed by Panasonic. The new Panasonic 102P smartphone running Android Gingerbread is exactly the same that appears in a leaked image a couple of months back. Also, it is expected that the device will have a stage appearance at International CES 2012. To our surprise, nothing turned out to be fruitful.

Panasonic 102P comes with a gigantic 4.3 inch HD display with 960 x 540 pixels resolution. The device comes in a sleek and ergonomic design in 7.8mm thickness, equipped with organic EL display. The overall appearance resembles, Nokia Lumia 900 device wrapped in polycarbonate shell. Panasonic 102P runs on Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread and there are no signs of upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich). This smartphone sports an 8 Megapixel Auto-focus camera with CMOS sensor for an efficient low-light capturing. The device comes with connectivity options including Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and 3G HSPA up to 21 Mbps.

The new SoftBank 102P designed by Panasonic offers special and sophisticated apps like Earthquake early warning, Disaster and evacuation information that is ideal for regional users. Also, it comes equipped with a Personal Protection security feature that helps the enterprise customers to safeguard their business documents. Users can also avail access to document editing tools like Smart Arch App, Security email etc to complete their tasks while on the move. Above all, the Panasonic SoftBank 102P is a rugged device making it waterproof and dust-proof resistant.

SoftBank Panasonic 102P comes in three colors, Blue Sky High, Black and Silver. The device will be made available in Japanese markets starting from March 2012. However, release for the World markets is unknown for this time.
